Community Health Worker Training

Our Community Health Worker Training programs build on home care workers’ existing skills to help them become Community Health Workers (CHWs), one of the fastest growing and in-demand healthcare careers. We test, screen and offer introductory training courses, such as motivational interviewing, to prepare home care workers who wish to explore this opportunity. CHW training programs range from 35 to more than 200 hours and include access to TEF’s national registered apprenticeship program.

Services that trained CHWs may perform include:

  • In-home environmental assessments
  • Acting as liaison to help others access healthcare and social services
  • Support for self-monitoring of various health conditions
  • Health coaching
