The 1199SEIU Home Care Industry Education Fund, one of nine 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds, provides access to a wide range of educational programs and training services. The Education Fund has three goals: provide quality training and education, meet the changing and emerging needs of the home care industry, and promote growth and empowerment in the workplace. The Education Fund is jointly managed by a board of union leaders and home care employers, and serves more than 20,000 home care workers in New York City and surrounding counties annually.
The 1199SEIU Home Care Industry Education Fund has been a part of the 1199SEIU Funds since 1992. The 1199SEIU Funds are among the strongest and largest labor-management funds in the nation, providing a range of comprehensive benefits to working and retired healthcare industry workers and their families. 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East is the largest healthcare union in the United States, representing more than 400,000 workers in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, pharmacies and home care agencies throughout New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Florida and Washington, DC.
