Dalia Barbos
2019 Awardee
Dalia Barbos emigrated from Romania in 2005 with her husband, leaving behind a career as a geography teacher for elementary, middle, and high school students.
She has been employed as a home health aide by Region Care Nursing Agency for the past six years, entering healthcare because she enjoys helping others and tending to their needs.
Dalia completed her pre-requisites at The New York City College of Technology with a 4.0 GPA and now studies in Hunter College’s Accelerated Second Degree Nursing Program.
She has two daughters who are the light of her life.
“This scholarship gives me a chance to accomplish sooner what I have already planned for myself: a Bachelor’s in Nursing. It also helps to sustain my daughters in school, offering them a chance for a better future. I want to set an example for them and show them that dreams can become a reality as long as you want it.”
